Beneath the Bark
Autumn exhibition, 2018
For our autumn exhibition, Stephen and I decided to turn our focus of attention away from the artforms traditionally seen as the Fine arts to those areas of creativity which are, all too frequently, deemed the “lesser arts”.
Wood furniture design, and other wood creations, are often categorised as such, mainly because they tend to be associated with the domestic environment and functional practical use. However, produced by the right hands and right minds, these beautiful 3D objects can be just as inspiring and thought provoking as some of the Finer arts, such as sculpture.
In Scotland, we are privileged to have many such artists-craftsmen, and, we are very proud, here at the White Fox Gallery, to be able to introduce you to 4 of these outstanding furniture designers and artisans, 4 artists who take their craft and design to another level…
Each individual piece on display beautifully expresses its creator’s personal sensitivity, mastery of its medium and ability to harness the life and beauty beneath the bark. Together, they form a splendid body of work which we hope you will enjoy online or – even best – by visiting our gallery on 51 High Street in Coldstream TD12 4DL
The exhibiting artists are: Tom Cooper, Stephen Finch, Digby Morrow and Alasdair Wallace.
PLEASE NOTE : PLEASE BEAR WITH US AS WE ARE PROCESSING IMAGES OF EACH INDIVIDUAL ITEM. THE PHOTOGRAPHS WILL BE UPLOADED ON THE RELEVANT ARTIST’S PAGE BY MONDAY 22ND OCTOBER.
Here is a taster of what is on display until 22nd December
