Sea patinated bronze open vessel, by Julia Cowie

Category: Tags: ,

Inspiration: Age old process of metal sand-casting and connecting to the land through the use of local materials (sand and clay) which would determine the texture, colour and therefore feel of the artwork. In this case, the firy coloration of the inside of the tumbler was due to the presence of iron ore in the Aberdeenshire sand which was used to make the mould.
Dimensions: 12 cm diam and 10 cm high approx.
Casting: cast on Fife sand and clay mould, patinated by sea water on the Fife coast
Care instructions: No cleaning. The patination will evolve in time.
